Rails Across the Curtain 
On the subject of number three…during the Russo-Japanese war just over a hundred years ago, they ran the train line across the frozen lake in winter to get soldiers and materiel out to the front in Siberia faster!
That is cool! One thing #3 doesn’t show very well is why there are 2 long wooden planks strapped to the top of the van. It isn’t uncommon when driving across to find 1-2 meter wide “fissures” in the ice. The planks are needed to help the car cross.
